Steven Duck holds Bachelor (2003) and Masters (2006) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Tulane University. Upon initial graduation in 2003 Steven joined ExxonMobil and worked Upstream positions spanning Facilities, Subsea, Drilling and Project engineering. In 2013 he transferred to Chalmette Refining specializing in Project Development. When the refinery was purchased by PBF Energy in 2015 he became Capital Projects Group Manager. At the origin of the Chalmette Renewable Diesel project in 2021 he took his current role of Project Advisor.

Presentation Description

Chalmette Renewable Diesel Project

PBF Energy is taking an idled hydrocracker unit at the Chalmette Refinery that was built to process hydrocarbon feedstocks and repurposing it to convert animal and plant-based feedstocks into renewable diesel. The feedstocks will first go to the newly built pretreatment unit followed by multiple processes through what we are calling the Renewable Diesel Unit, which will separate them into finished products such as Renewable Diesel, propane, naphtha, etc. We will be making approximately 20,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel when the project is completed. Green Energy projects such as this can help create stability for our workforce, add value to our facility, and have a positive impact for the community.
