Joseph R. Becker, PE

General Superintendent of the Sewerage and Water Board

Joseph Becker has been the General Superintendent of the Sewerage and Water Board for nine years. He is a 28 year employee of the Sewerage and Board of New Orleans, previously serving as Deputy General Superintendent. He is only the sixth person to serve as General Superintendent in the 115 year history of the Sewerage and Water Board.

The general superintendent’s office is responsible for all aspects of the field operation, maintenance and engineering design for the Board. The office also oversees the work of the Drainage Pumping, Water Purification, Wastewater Treatment, Engineering, Environmental, Operations, Networks Maintenance and Plumbing Departments.

Joseph holds a Bachelors of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of New Orleans and completed the Management Development Program from Loyola University in New Orleans. He is a licensed, professional civil and environmental engineer in the State of Louisiana.
